Where did the name Ella Mon come from?

Simply put, it’s a play on my own name, but also a spin on family heritage and culture.  Mon, is for Monica… and I loved the way Ella sounded with it.  But there’s more… in Spanish, ella means “she” (although pronounced “aya”), which is where the spin on heritage lies.  My father was born and raised in Argentina, and that heritage has remained a place of pride in my family (although it’s right up there with that of my Polish and proud of it mom).  I also grew up moving A LOT, having lived in many places and exposed to many cultures… both Ella and Mon mean many things in various languages, all speaking to my fondness of culture while still speaking to “me”, or “mine”, or “she”, or “her”…

Where did those gorgeous chandeliers come from?

Luckily the previous tenants had fabulous taste and they installed the chandeliers… I made the purchase from them and we’re fortunate to have them grace our presence!

What sizes do you carry?

I am constantly looking for lines that cater to all of my customers from size 0 to size 14.  Most of the time, I guess on which end of the size spectrum to stock which styles… I do get it wrong on occasion and am always happy to hear from you on what you would like to see.

Do you offer special sales or discounts?

I am committed to two major clearance events a year.  Early January is when I take major markdowns on Fall and Winter goods.  The end of July into August is the clearance period for Spring and Summer.  The normal markdown for these events starts at 40% and goes as high as 70%.  We generally have a small rack of in season markdowns to look at in the store at all times.  This merchandise consists of odds and ends, transitional stock or very slow selling styles.

Secret tip:  During the Ballard seafood festival at the end of July, we get ridiculous on markdowns on seasonal carryover and odds and ends… big time clearance.

Are you hiring?

I am always willing to talk to anyone that has a passion for fashion and is interested in a career in this industry.  I may not always have a position open but I keep a list of possible candidates for whenever there is a need.  So bring your resume in and we will take a look.  Obviously, customers always come first at Ella Mon so remember to be respectful of our ability to talk to you.  We may have to call you at a later time.

What is your return policy?

All sales are accompanied by a sales receipt.  The receipt is required to return all merchandise. Returns are accepted for store credit or exchange within 7 days of purchase with receipt.  Goods must be in the same condition as when they left the store with all tags attached.  All sales are final on sale, clearance and “as is” merchandise.
